World Bank to Launch CHF 200 Million Digital Bond

The World Bank will issue its first CHF digital bond on June 11. This 7-year bond, valued at CHF 200 million ($219 million), marks the World Bank’s largest CHF issuance since 2009

The bond leverages distributed ledger technology and will be settled using Swiss Franc wholesale central bank digital currency (CBDC) from the Swiss National Bank (SNB).

In partnership with the SNB and SIX Digital Exchange, the World Bank will use wholesale CBDC for the initial settlement and tokenised CHF for coupon and redemption payments.

Listed on both the SIX Digital Exchange and the traditional SIX Swiss Exchange, the bond will be regulated under Swiss law.
