Vietnam Plans Greater Investment in Internet Infrastructure

In order to satisfy customers’ expanding needs, the country’s Internet infrastructure is expected to receive significant investment in 2022. Last year, Vietnam set a new record for Internet subscriptions, with approximately 71 million mobile broadband subscriptions and 18.8 million fixed broadband connections.

From 2020, they are expected to rise by 4% and 14.6 per cent, respectively. Two-thirds of the population had access to the internet. In 2021, the amount of traffic on the internet increased by more than 40%.

Telecom companies have accelerated the development of broadband infrastructure. The 5G network has been tested in 16 provinces and cities so far, while 4G covers 99.8% of the population and cable Internet is available in 100% of communal-level towns.

This is based on statistics from the Telecommunications Authority, which is part of the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC).
