Unilever to invest €20m in Ukraine factory

Unilever has announced a €20 million investment in a new production facility in the Kyiv region of Ukraine. The move is aimed at supporting the company’s growing business and demonstrating its long-term commitment to the country. The new factory, expected to open in 2024, will create approximately 100 jobs and manufacture personal care products such as shampoos and shower gels for Unilever brands including Dove, Axe, TRESemmé and Clear. The factory will primarily serve the local Ukrainian market with potential for future expansion to European markets.

Unilever aims to build the factory to the highest environmental standards, with a focus on using renewable energy technologies. The company is committed to achieving net-zero emissions across its value chain by 2039, and this investment in Ukraine supports that goal.

Vasyl Bovdilov, General Manager of Unilever Ukraine, said that the investment demonstrates the company’s long-term commitment to the country and its people, including employees, customers, and partners. Bovdilov noted that the new manufacturing facility will create new jobs, increase production capacity, and provide high-quality, sustainable products to meet the needs of Ukrainian consumers.

Unilever has been present in Ukraine for 30 years, and the investment marks the milestone anniversary. The company currently employs over 100 people in the country. Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, Unilever has focused on ensuring the safety and wellbeing of its Ukrainian employees and their families. Unilever has donated over €15 million in support and essential products to the humanitarian relief effort, working closely with United Nations agencies and local NGOs to provide aid to those in need. The company remains committed to providing humanitarian aid to support the people of Ukraine.
