TIM Brasil launches Latam’s largest satellite network

In collaboration with Intelsat, the world’s largest integrated satellite and terrestrial network, TIM Brasil is expanding Sky Coverage to additional locations in the country’s northern region.

One of the goals of the initiative, which now has over 1,000 sites, is to provide long-term access through off-grid sites to more remote areas of Brazil where power grid infrastructure is lacking.

TIM established the Sky Coverage project to cover districts, localities, roads, and resorts, as well as using satellite connection in remote locations, as the leader in 4G coverage and with the goal of covering 100 percent of the municipalities in Brazil with the technology by 2023.

This solution allows networks to expand their reach more quickly than terrestrial options. The initiative also improves agriculture connectivity, particularly for equipment and investments in the Internet of Things (IoT).
