Ryan Reynolds acquires shares in Nuvei

Ryan Reynolds, the Canadian actor and entrepreneur, announced on Monday that he has invested in Canadian fintech firm Nuvei Corp. Reynolds stated that he knows little about fintech, but was impressed by Nuvei’s leadership team and their hard work. He also mentioned that it was high time for a Canadian company to gain the same level of attention that American tech companies receive.

This announcement comes after the recent acquisition of budget wireless provider, Mint Mobile, which was also an investment of Reynolds. The company was acquired by T-Mobile US Inc for $1.35 billion. Additionally, Reynolds has stakes in American Aviation Gin and Welsh soccer club Wrexham Football Club.

Nuvei provides payments services, with card acquiring services available in over 200 markets. Nuvei’s stock rose by 1.4% pre-market. Reynolds’ investment in Nuvei follows his growing interest in the tech and business world. Despite his lack of knowledge in the field, his impressive track record of investments suggests a promising future for the fintech company.

Reynolds is among the growing number of high-profile investors taking an interest in fintech. With the COVID-19 pandemic accelerating the shift to digital payments, the industry has seen rapid growth in recent years. Reynolds’ investment in Nuvei could potentially attract more attention to the Canadian fintech industry, which could lead to more investments and innovations in the future.
