Paysend now hiring staff for Dublin hub

Paysend, a UK fintech, has opened an office in Dublin to expand into new European Union markets. The card-to-card payment service provider has received an electronic money institution licence (EMI) from the Central Bank of Ireland, which allows Paysend to disburse electronic money and operate in Ireland. Paysend plans to hire up to 30 employees to staff the Dublin office, which is one of four Paysend hubs. The other hubs are located in Miami, Edinburgh and London. The European CEO, Céline Singleton, is leading the recruitment of staff for the Dublin office.

According to Singleton, Dublin has become a great operating hub for tech companies with a skilled workforce and thriving business community. Singleton added that Paysend has an excellent opportunity to attract top talent and drive growth in more locations across Europe. Paysend was founded in 2017 and operates in 170 countries with more than 7 million customers.

Ronald Millar, the group CEO and co-founder of Paysend, described the opening of the Dublin office as “a key strategic move” and an “exciting opportunity” to expand further into Europe with the support of the Irish Industrial Development Agency (IDA) and the EMI licence granted to the company. The Minister of State at the Department of Finance, Dr Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, TD, expressed delight at Paysend’s decision to set up a base in Ireland, describing it as a valuable endorsement of the future growth potential for firms in Ireland based on sound regulation and the availability of talented people.

According to the Government’s Ireland for Finance strategy, there were 56,000 people directly employed in the international financial services sector in Ireland at the end of 2022. The strategy expresses a whole-of-government commitment in collaboration with industry stakeholders to further develop the international financial services sector in Ireland.
