Nokia, Vietnam sign agreement on digital infrastructure

Last week, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) and Finland-based Nokia Corp inked a partnership deal for the upgrade and development of VNPT’s digital infrastructure in Vietnam.

The ceremony held to commemorate the signing of the agreement was attended by several dignitaries, including Vietnamese NA chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Speaker of the Finnish Parliament Anu Vehvilainen, as the event coincided with the chairman’s official visit to Finland.

As part of the agreement, both Nokia and VNPT have made commitments to work in tandem to improve the capacity of backbone and core networks, develop 4G, 5G, and internet of things (IoT) platforms, further commercial testing of 5G services, and work together to develop and apply new networking technology.

It is hoped that this agreement will create several opportunities, especially as touching tech solutions for corporate customers. In signing this deal, Nokia also assured that it plans to maintain operations in Vietnam for the long-term.
