Musk Launches SpaceX’s Starlink Internet Services in Indonesia

Elon Musk has introduced SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet services in Indonesia, aiming to enhance internet connectivity in remote areas.

As the founder and CEO of SpaceX, Tesla, and Neuralink, Musk expressed the likelihood of his other companies investing in the South Asian country.

Musk, accompanied by key Indonesian government officials, inaugurated the Starlink services at a community health centre in Bali on Sunday.

The launch brings internet services to regions with limited or no connectivity in Indonesia, the world’s largest archipelago comprising over 17,000 islands. Musk emphasised the significance of internet connectivity, particularly for remote medical clinics in the country.

In a statement on its platform, Starlink confirmed, “Across more than 17,000 islands, Starlink’s high-speed, low-latency internet is available in Indonesia!”

Speaking to local media, Musk underscored the transformative impact of internet connectivity, stating, “It is really important to emphasise the importance of internet connectivity and how much of a life-changer and a life-saver it can be.”

Starlink, a satellite internet constellation owned by SpaceX, has expanded its internet services and mobile broadband coverage across numerous countries worldwide. Recently, Starlink announced its availability across the 300-plus islands in Fiji, marking its presence in the 99th country, territory, or market globally.

Moreover, Starlink has been installed on over 200 cruise ships worldwide, with many more expected to come online soon. This initiative aims to provide passengers and crews with high-speed internet connectivity while navigating rivers and oceans.
