HSBC brings on new head of wealth

HSBC, a global banking and financial services giant, has appointed Racquel Oden to lead its wealth management, global private banking, and retail divisions in the United States. This significant appointment is part of HSBC’s strategic efforts to bolster its presence and offerings in the lucrative US market. Oden is set to assume her role in December and will be based in New York. She will report directly to Juan Parma, Head of Wealth and Personal Banking Americas, and Michael Roberts, CEO of the US and Americas.

Michael Roberts underscored the importance of Oden’s arrival, stating, “The wealth and personal banking business plays a key role in HSBC’s overall growth strategy in the US. Racquel’s extensive industry experience will be instrumental as we strengthen our focus on serving globally connected and high-net-worth clients.”

Racquel Oden brings a wealth of experience to HSBC, having previously served at JPMorgan Chase, where she held the position of Head of Network Expansion for Consumer Banking. Her responsibilities extended to overseeing national sales and the Northeast Division for both consumer banking and wealth management. Prior to her tenure at JPMorgan Chase, Oden held several key positions at Merrill Lynch, including Head of Advisor Strategy, Head of Global Product Strategy, and Market Executive for the company’s flagship New York Fifth Avenue market, catering to high-net-worth individuals and institutions.

Oden’s impressive career trajectory also includes a decade at UBS, where she held various senior leadership roles. She initiated her career in equity trading at Morgan Stanley, demonstrating a well-rounded understanding of the financial industry.

Expressing her enthusiasm for her new role at HSBC, Oden stated, “I’m excited to join HSBC to lead the Wealth and Personal Banking business in the US. I look forward to working with my new colleagues in the US and around the world to continue to build and grow a platform that leverages HSBC’s unparalleled international network to serve the unique needs of our clients.”

HSBC’s strategic move to appoint Oden reflects the bank’s commitment to strengthening its foothold in the US market and enhancing its services to meet the evolving needs of its diverse clientele. Oden’s expertise and leadership are expected to play a pivotal role in driving HSBC’s wealth management and private banking business in the United States.
