EUR5.12bn to enhance key infrastructure in the EU


The EU has announced a call for proposals under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for Transport programme, which provides EUR 5.12bn for projects aimed at new, upgraded and improved European transport infrastructure.

Projects financed through this call will prioritize improving sustainability in the cluster’s transport sector, bringing the EU closer to the European Green Deal objective of cutting down transport emissions by 90% by 2050.

The stated budget of the call is dedicated towards backing infrastructure projects on the Core and Comprehensive TEN-T networks in the following areas: railways, inland waterways, maritime and inland ports, road safety, rail-road terminals, multimodal logistics platforms, multimodal passenger hubs, smart and interoperable applications for transport, safe and secure mobility, infrastructure resilience.

The commission defined those who can apply as: one or more Member State; International organisations or public or private bodies established in an EU Member State, with the agreement of the Member State(s) concerned.

Proposals are to be submitted electronically via the Funding & Tenders Portal Electronic Submission System before 18 January 2023 at 17.00 CET.
