Electrify America, NFI launch charging infrastructure project

Electrify America has reached a new agreement with NFI Industries to install a new fast-charging network for heavy-duty electric trucks. Currently, there are 34 ultra-fast DC chargers scheduled for completion by the close of 2023.

Through this new arrangement, NFI plans to deploy 60 battery-electric drayage trucks, making it the first 100% zero-emission fleet operator and truck shop in California.

Electrify America has been selected to facilitate the charging solutions, including deployment, configuration and energy management.

The Joint Electric Truck Scaling Initiative (JETSI) project provide financing to 50 of the trucks, with 10 other Volvo VNR Electrics, financed by Volvo Trucks North America and Switch-On.

The charging infrastructure needed to power this fleet will be installed at NFI’s Ontario, Calif. Facility. It will be fitted with 150kW and 350 kW ultra-fast chargers. The chargers will serve NFI’s fleet of battery-electric freight trucks.
