Edtech Luca Raises a US$3 Million Pre-seed Round

Luca, an educational technology business, just raised $3 million in a pre-seed round. Heartcore Capital and Shilling Capital, as well as several Angel investors, took part in the round.

Juan Romero, the former CEO of Pearson Latam, Hugo Arévalo, the co-founder of ThePowerMBA, Brian Requarth, the co-founder of Latitud and Viva Real, and Gonzalo Manrique, the creator of Ironhack, are among them.

The funds will be utilized to expand the company’s technology and product development teams. It will also fund the expansion of its content production as well as the establishment of businesses in Mexico.

Frederico Bello started Luca, a company situated in Mexico City, in the year 2020. It specializes in allowing students in basic education to improve their academic progress by watching videos and creating their own content.

The edtech was created by pedagogy specialists with prior experience working for educational publishers like Santillana and Pearson, as well as tech businesses like Crehana, Netflix, and Uber. Uber was where the founder worked for a while.
