Ecobank Group partners with fintech Semoa

Ecobank Group has entered into a new partnership with Lomé-based fintech Semoa to ensure that customers and users of mobile banking platforms in Togo can transact and make deposits across the West African Economic and Monetary Union with even less hassle.

This new partnership will allow Ecobank customers in the country to access Semoa’s latest digital banking solution Xpress Cash, which lets users transfer their funds via WhatsApp.

Ecobank, a financial institution with a presence in over 35 African nations, is the first bank to integrate Semoa’s new solution, or any like it, at their ATMs and express payment points/agencies.

To use the service, which is available round the clock, customers can simply send a WhatsApp message to Dédé, Semoa’s BOT, and receive a token which can be used for withdrawals, bill payments, transfers in Togo and within the WAEMU region.

Djiba Diallo, the Ecobank Group’s Senior fintech adviser said: “As digital banking becomes increasingly important, the Ecobank Group is joining the growing number of banks, card companies and payment service providers around the world using developers like Semoa, one of the most prominent fintechs in Africa, to enhance customer experience.”
