Bitpanda raises US$263m at a $4.1bn valuation

About 5months ago, Bitpanda completed a US$170M Series B funding round at a US$1.2bn valuation to become Austria’s first unicorn. Today, the same firm hits a US$4.1bn valuation following a US$263m Series C funding round, led by Peter Thiel’s Valar Ventures.

The other backers who took part in the round include Alan Howard and REDO Ventures. Existing backers LeadBlock Partners and Jump Capital also participating in the funding effort.

This funding round has tripled the firm’s valuation, and the firm is poised for even more growth as crypto investments soar.

Although the retail crypto investment is highly competitive, Bitpanda is trying to carve its own space in the market by prioritizing Europe.

The firm already has its offices and physical tech hubs situated in eight cities across Europe, including Vienna, Barcelona, Berlin, Krakow, London, Madrid, Milan, and Paris.

The new capital injection will be applied towards its international expansion plans, to scale the business, and also to hire more employees.
