Bezeq and Serverfarm data centre in ‘final stages’

In Bnei Zion, Israel, Bezeq International and Serverfarm will combine to develop a new data centre. The Israel telco said in a LinkedIn post that its new data centre is nearing completion and will cover approximately 9,000 square metres.

The 3MW plant will fulfil worldwide environmental requirements while consuming less energy, cooling efficiently, and integrating with other systems.

“The entire field is developing at a record pace and Bezeq International, as part of the strategy and business focus is here to lead this change,” Ron Gelb, VP of business solutions at Bezeq International said.

The company recently partnered with Arc Solutions to connect Israel directly to the UAE and Bahrain, following the announcement of a jump in Q1 net earnings. In Israel, Bezeq’s fibre network serves 1.25 million households, and the company’s satellite TV unit just turned a profit.

The data centre is a continuation of Serverfarm’s Middle Eastern expansion, which was first announced in December 2021. The data centre, which was built in collaboration with the Israel Infrastructure Fund, is expected to be operational by the end of the year.
