Alibaba Reduces Cloud Costs Worldwide Amid AI Demand

Alibaba Group’s digital technology and intelligence subsidiary, Alibaba Cloud, has introduced a suite of groundbreaking product features and services tailored for international clientele, aimed at streamlining artificial intelligence (AI) processes and fostering global accessibility to AI technologies.

Selina Yuan, President of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence’s international business division, emphasised the pivotal role of cloud infrastructure in shaping the future of AI. She underscored Alibaba’s commitment to ensuring that AI development remains cost-effective and accessible to businesses worldwide.

During the Alibaba Cloud Spring Launch virtual conference, Yuan highlighted the company’s efforts to simplify AI adoption, unveiling a managed service for large language models (LLM). This service provides businesses with access to specialised experts dedicated to simplifying the integration and operation of LLMs, thereby allowing organisations to focus on leveraging the business value of AI without grappling with technical intricacies.

Additionally, Alibaba Cloud introduced the PAI-Lingjun intelligent computing service, an AI computing platform offering comprehensive AI engineering capabilities, including development, training, role management, and computing resource management.

The AI-driven sustainability solution, Energy Expert, has been enhanced with new functionalities, including an open Application Programming Interface (API) service. This service offers carbon and energy micro-services developed using LLM capabilities and domain-specific knowledge, further expanding the scope of AI-driven sustainability initiatives.

Yuan emphasised Alibaba Cloud’s commitment to its global expansion strategy outlined in previous summits, focusing on innovative approaches and the vision of N3 (Next, Neo, and Nexus). She expressed Alibaba Cloud’s readiness to embrace N3 by infusing AI-powered solutions with a new spirit of innovation.

Alibaba Cloud currently operates in 89 availability zones in 30 regions globally, serving over four million customers. In the Gartner Report Market Share: IT Services, Worldwide 2022, released in 2023, Alibaba emerged as the world’s third-largest and Asia-Pacific’s leading Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) provider, underscoring its growing prominence in the global cloud computing landscape.
