Visa backs Arab FinTech Forum

One of the world’s leading fintech firms Visa is the key backer for the first edition of the Arab Fintech Forum on Oct. 10 in Qatar. This was detailed in a report published by The FinTech Times on Monday.

The event will be separated into different phases and programs, including keynote speeches, panel discussions, and workshops. The core goal and focus of this is to address the key roadblocks and opportunities faced by firms in fintech.

A more niche focus of the event is the major role financial inclusion plays in ensuring global economic stability, recovery, and expansion.

Currently, the world has about 2 billion unbanked people and 200 million micro and small businesses that are unable to access the necessary financial services, making streamlining the digitization of cash, enabling digital payments, and developing new payment solutions have become a front-burner issue.

President and Founder of the Arab Fintech Forum, Malik Shishtawi stated that the demand for secure and innovative digital commerce solutions is higher by the day, “requiring FinTechs to evolve and grow faster than ever due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Otto Williams, head of product and solutions for Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at Visa, said:

“We are proud to be a sponsor to the first edition of the Arab Fintech Forum and very much looking forward to working together and providing real-time solutions to meet the needs of individuals and businesses across the region.”
