AEI Capital Group (习创资本集团) is an Asia-Pacific focused alternative asset management group dual-headquartered in Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur, presented in association with European Credit Investment Bank. The group operates from eight cities: Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, London, Washington D.C., Shenzhen, Chengdu and Labuan. Growth equity is its core discipline.
Business Lines
Activities span private equity, public equity, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity secondaries, hedge funds, private credit, fund structuring, corporate advisory and venture incubation. Investment management is conducted on a discretionary basis through licensed and appointed group entities. Corporate advisory and M&A work is executed alongside the group's own principal investment programme rather than as a standalone agency business. Venture incubation sits within a dedicated digital and technology arm, which also provides AI-enabled operating support to portfolio companies.
Geographic Footprint
Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur are the group's twin headquarters. Hong Kong is the principal regulated centre: AEI Caelus Asset Management Limited holds a Securities and Futures Commission licence, and the group's Hong Kong asset management and trust arms carry out investment execution and trustee functions for family office mandates. Kuala Lumpur is the operational headquarters and the base for the group's investment, asset and wealth, trust and wealth, corporate development and portfolio management divisions. Singapore functions as a regional support hub, providing regional advisory services from time to time. London activity is conducted through Mayfair Capital Markets Ltd, which is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority. Labuan provides the group's Malaysian offshore fund management and investment banking infrastructure, while the Shenzhen and Chengdu offices support Greater China origination, and Cayman being our global offshore fund hub serving global asset allocation.
Investment Approach
Origination is concentrated in Southeast Asia and Greater China, with a mid-market growth equity emphasis and selective public-market and pre-listing participation. Mandates cover mid-market growth equity, Greater China and broader private equity strategies, with AEI Fund Management Co. Ltd as the holding company of our asset management group which acts as our general partner arm. The group also structures trust and multi-family-office solutions and distributes through institutional and trustee channels in Malaysia and the wider region.
Group Structure and Milestones
John Tan is Chairman and CEO. The group has been in operation since 2011 and employs approximately 70 people across its offices. Groupwide AUM exceed USD 7 billion as at December 2025.
