Mastercard Finalises Acquisition of Minna Technologies

Mastercard has announced its acquisition of Minna Technologies, a Swedish fintech known for its subscription management solutions, in a strategic move aimed at enhancing its offering in the subscription services sector. Minna’s technology allows users to manage, modify, or cancel subscriptions directly through banking apps, simplifying consumer experiences in a world increasingly dominated by recurring services.

The acquisition aligns with Mastercard’s broader goals of strengthening its consumer payment offerings. Minna’s capabilities will integrate with Mastercard’s current tools, designed to improve customer relationships and minimise subscription-related friction. This acquisition follows Mastercard’s September purchase of Recorded Future, indicating a strong focus on expanding digital capabilities.

Gaurav Mittal, CEO of Mastercard’s Ethoca division, highlighted that this acquisition addresses consumer challenges around subscription management, especially in preventing cancellations due to payment blocks. Minna’s automated subscription management platform, which already serves 120 million users globally, provides significant compliance and wide subscription coverage. This deal further reinforces Mastercard’s commitment to enhancing the subscription economy as it continues to grow in relevance for both businesses and consumers.

While financial terms were not disclosed, this acquisition will help Mastercard deepen its relationships with customers and partners by leveraging Minna’s subscription expertise across banking ecosystems. The deal remains subject to regulatory approval.
