Online trading platform eToro has expanded its long-term investing capabilities with the introduction of a recurring investment feature for users in the UK, Europe and the UAE. The new tool allows investors to automate repeat purchases of stocks, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and cryptoassets, making it easier to follow a consistent investment strategy without the need for manual trades.
The feature enables users to schedule regular contributions towards selected assets, supporting long-term goals through a disciplined approach. With investment amounts starting from $25, users can set up transactions of up to $5,000 each and $25,000 per month in total.
eToro says the move is aimed at helping retail investors reduce the impact of market volatility through consistent investing, including dollar-cost averaging. This strategy involves buying assets at regular intervals regardless of price, potentially lowering the average cost per unit over time.
Insights from eToro’s Retail Investor Beat survey, which polled 10,000 retail investors across 12 countries, indicate strong demand for such tools. Respondents cited affordability, convenience, reduced concern over market timing, and long-term cost benefits as key motivations for using recurring investment features.
According to eToro’s Chief Solutions Officer Tuval Chomut, the addition of recurring investments reflects the platform’s commitment to making long-term investing more accessible and automated for everyday users. He said the feature allows users to integrate regular investing into their budgets while maintaining consistency despite market fluctuations.
The feature is available in multiple countries, with some limitations based on local regulations. Users in the Netherlands can currently access recurring investments for stocks and ETFs, with crypto support to follow. ETF investing is not yet available in Switzerland through this tool, and crypto access is restricted in Belgium and the UAE. The service does not cover CFDs, SmartPortfolios, or CopyTrading.
This latest addition forms part of eToro’s broader push to enhance its platform. Recent upgrades include new portfolio tools and the introduction of local currency accounts in GBP and EUR, enabling UK and European users to invest directly in domestic stocks without incurring foreign exchange fees.
All recurring investments made in stocks, ETFs, or cryptoassets via this new feature are commission-free, underlining eToro’s focus on cost-effective investing for its retail user base.
