Oman, Tanzania launch mutual investment fund


According to Reuters, the state-owned Oman News Agency cited the sultanate’s Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi as announcing today that Oman and Tanzania have established a mutual investment fund with the intention of investing in a number of industries, including mining, fishing, and agriculture.

Samia Suluhu Hassan, the president of Tanzania, is in Oman on a state visit. Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik met her yesterday at the Royal Airport.

On the sidelines of the Oman-Tanzania Business Forum, which was organised by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Tanzanian president met with a number of Omani businessmen and their Tanzanian counterparts. They discussed ways to improve economic and investment cooperation and expand trade exchange.

The leaders reviewed a number of issues that bothered them during their meeting with Sultan Haitham, the ONA said. They also discussed measures to support and strengthen their bilateral ties in different areas to advance their peoples’ shared interests.
