Mastercard and Scale Partner to Boost FinTech Growth

Mastercard has teamed up with Scale, an issuer orchestration partner, to streamline market entry for FinTech companies across Africa and the Middle East. This collaboration aims to remove key technical and commercial barriers that often hinder the launch of payment programs for FinTech firms, aggregators, enablers, payment service providers (PSPs), and telecommunications companies.

The partnership will provide crucial support in securing BIN sponsorships, developing sustainable unit economics, and commercializing card and payment programs. By integrating Mastercard’s managed services with Scale’s expertise, the initiative will allow FinTech companies to focus on their core operations while expediting the deployment of new products and services.

“At Mastercard, we are committed to fostering the growth of innovative payment solutions across the region,” said Amnah Ajmal, Executive Vice President of Market Development, EEMEA at Mastercard. “With Scale’s deep understanding of the FinTech landscape, we are well-positioned to bridge the digital gap and enhance financial inclusion.”

The partnership is expected to evolve into a technology solution, enabling tech companies to acquire Mastercard issuing capabilities through Scale. Miranda Perumal, Co-Founder and CEO of Scale, highlighted that this collaboration addresses a major industry pain point by simplifying the process of securing bank BIN sponsors and other payment solutions, allowing FinTech firms to accelerate revenue generation.

Mastercard will oversee the implementation of card programs from start to finish, while Scale will support post-launch growth, helping partners understand market dynamics and consumer behaviour to achieve profitability.
