Fintech SkyCredit to test mobility industry

Katalis has announced its support for SkyCredit Group, an Australian fintech company, to investigate entering the Indonesian electric motorcycle market. The partnership will evaluate the rapidly growing market and determine opportunities for SkyCredit to participate based on their technological strengths.

Paul Walshe, Managing Director of SkyCredit, stated that the electric two-wheeler market in Indonesia is a catalyst for the country’s transition to a decarbonized transport system, but financing options are limited for the unbanked population. With Katalis’ support, SkyCredit aims to make electric two-wheelers more accessible and contribute to sustainable urban mobility.

Based in Perth, SkyCredit provides “digital first” financial services with a focus on online direct-to-consumer credit for the near-prime risk segment in Australia. The company is a suitable partner for the emerging Indonesian market, where it seeks to offer credit sales of electric motorcycles and make them more affordable for middle-to-low-income customers through payment plans.

Katalis Director, Paul Bartlett, stated that the support for SkyCredit’s innovative fintech solutions will promote wider adoption of electric motorcycles in Indonesia, aligning with the government’s goal of making electric vehicles accessible to a broader market and meeting the decarbonization objective.

Indonesia already has one of the largest electric two-wheeler markets in the world and is expected to grow even faster as the government aims to put two million electric motorcycles on the roads by 2025.
